Global Integrative Traditional Medicine

This conference focuses on fundamentals of traditional medicines with the objective to better integrate their practice with Western medicine. By returning to the source, the conference will provide a deeper insight on the spiritual values and basic principles that support the therapeutic practice of traditional medicines. The rediscovery of the essence of traditional medicines will also help in the conceiving of new research approaches that fully respect their fundaments,
while generating useful results with harmonious integration.

4th International Multidisciplinary Conference on Spirituality and Health: Interweaving Science, Wisdom, and Compassion

The conference presenters represent a multitude of disciplines, such as scholars, researchers, and practitioners in nursing, medicine, psychiatry, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, palliative care, native studies, Buddhist studies, and theology, among others. The abstracts report findings and perspectives from different cultures and religious traditions, including those in Asia, Europe, and North America. People from diverse cultural, ethnic, and philosophical backgrounds and those from all faith communities are welcome to join this exciting forum.

The event is to celebrate the launch of the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Colleges of Canada, to provide vision of Traditional Chinese medicine being included in a university program, and to promote standards of Traditional Chinese medicine education. A panel, featuring Drs. John O’Neil, Soma Ganesan, Steven Aung, Hal Gun, and Arden Henley, will discuss the integration of Traditional Chinese medicine into Canadian Education.

Dr. Alfried Längle will explore the importance of meaning and its impact on mental health in three ways: first, I will overview Viktor Frankl’s concept of a meaningful life (Logotherapy) which helps localize the requirements for attaining meaning and reveal practical steps for its attainment. Second, I will take a deeper look at the structure of our existence from the theoretical perspective of Existential Analysis. Third, I will show the practical elements for a fulfilling life through the therapeutic approach. The presentation is intended to illuminate the possibilities for growth in one’s own spirituality and provide skills to manage the question of meaning both personally and professionally.
